JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC — a photo of a document, receipt or print

This image to Word converter turns a photo or scan into a real, editable Word document right in your browser. Upload a picture of a page, a note, or a handout, press Convert To Word, and get a .docx you can open, type into, and share. Text recognition runs fully on your device, so nothing you upload ever leaves your computer.

How to Convert an Image to Word

  1. Add your image: press Choose Files, drop a screenshot onto the box, or paste one straight from your clipboard. PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF all work.
  2. Set the language: pick the language of the text, or two or three if the page mixes them. English, Spanish, German, French and 60 more are built in.
  3. Rotate and crop (optional): rotate a sideways photo, or drag a box over the preview to focus on one column or section.
  4. Press Convert To Word: the text is read and laid out on the page in a few seconds.
  5. Edit and download: fix a missed word in the preview, then press Download Word File to save the .docx.

An Editable Result, Not Just a Picture

The tool reads the text in your image and writes it into a Word document, so you can delete a word, change a name, or copy a sentence. Headings come out bigger and bold, lists stay as lists, and left- or centre-aligned blocks keep their alignment. The layout is kept close to the original page instead of being mashed into one line of plain text.

Handles Real-World Photos and Documents

Rotate a photo taken at the wrong angle, or crop the preview when the picture holds two columns or a table you do not need. For a crisp result, keep the page well lit and the text reasonably large. The conversion never needs an account, a watermark, or a file upload.

Recognize Text in 60+ Languages

Select the language of your page so the reading engine knows what it is looking at. English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and dozens more are available, and you can pick up to three when a document mixes languages.

Everything Happens in Your Browser

Your image is never sent to a server. The reader is Tesseract OCR, and it runs locally in your tab on your own device. That keeps the whole job fast and private, and it means offline-capable machines can convert without uploading a thing. Close the tab and your image and document are gone with it.

FAQ

Is this free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it is completely free with no signup, and the Word file has no watermark.

Will it keep the layout of my scanned page?

It recreates a readable layout: headings, lists and alignment are preserved so the document feels like the original page, though a highly decorated flyer will not be a pixel-for-pixel copy.

Can I convert a photo with a slight tilt?

Yes, turn the rotation until the text is level, or crop in on the text you want before converting.

Can it read handwritten notes?

It is built for printed text. Clear, printed pages give the best results; handwriting may come through only partly.

What file size and format limits apply?

Images are processed locally, so there is no upload limit. Anything your browser can open, the tool can read.
