or choose a file to split into separate PDFs

Free · up to 50 MB · 200 pages max · runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Break one PDF into several. Split at exact ranges for chapter files, split every N pages for even sections, or save each page on its own — then download the pieces one by one or as a single ZIP. Everything runs in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.

Steps to Split a PDF

  1. Add a file: drag your PDF into the box or press Choose PDF.
  2. Pick a split method: Custom ranges for exact page ranges like 1-3, 4-6, 7-, Every N pages to cut the file into equal sections, or Each page separately to burst it into one PDF per page.
  3. Press Split PDF: each selection becomes its own PDF, rebuilt page by page.
  4. Download: save the pieces individually or grab Download all as ZIP to fetch every file at once.

Custom Ranges

Type the ranges you want, separated by commas. 1-3 keeps pages 1 to 3, 5 keeps only page 5, and 7- keeps page 7 through to the end. Each range becomes its own PDF, so splitting a report into chapters is just a matter of listing where each one starts.

What Splitting Preserves

Pages are copied out of the original PDF instead of being redrawn, so text stays selectable and searchable, fonts and vector graphics keep their quality, and images, links, and annotations carry over untouched.

Private by Design

Like the other PDF tools, splitting happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. No uploads, no accounts, no watermarks — ideal for contracts, bank statements, and school documents.

FAQ

Can I extract just a few pages?

Yes. Use Custom ranges and list only the pages you need, for example 2,5,7 or 10-15, and download the single resulting file.

How do I split a PDF in half?

Use Custom ranges with two ranges — for a 20-page file enter 1-10, 11-20 — or pick Every N pages with a value of 10.

Is there a size limit?

Files up to 50 MB and 200 pages are supported. Because the work happens on your device, the size limit keeps things snappy in any browser.

Need pieces back together afterwards? Use the PDF merger, shrink the result with the PDF compressor, or turn pages into images with the PDF to JPG converter.
